Our workshop is the heart of the company and is where our skilled staff make and prepare materials for trade and private customers who are in need of something purpose made to fill or fit a specific size or requirement. We are often able to reproduce work from photographs, diagrams or basic drawings when accompanied with the dimensions needed.
We are also able to mortice timber posts to carry arris rails (which can be bought from us directly from stock in 2.4m and 3m lengths ready shaped to fit), We can also mortice posts for arbours and pergolas. This is often very useful when you are repairing a fence and need to match the existing posts. We can ofter do this while you wait but may need a day or two to prepare larger orders
(Post morticing charged at £1 per hole for stardard size)
Routing the frame of a gate is an important part of gate making and something which we do as standard on all our framed ledged and braced gates. Routing the frame illiminates gaps which can naturally appear between the frame and the cladding. This is generally caused by changing seasons as the timber shrinks and swells. While this may not make a difference structurally, it is more of an aesthetical importance and stop anyone from being able to look through
Post shaping and planing are more of the services we can
provide and while we have shown a few examples above
this is not limited to the various designs we can prepare
including bishop top, cardinal top and birdsmouth top
which are often used in knee rail fencing. All of these posts
can have the inclusions of routed grooves just below the
bottom of the shape to give a more individual and sometimes regal look to your fencing . Alternatively we carry in stock mounted ball and acorn finials as well as post caps that can besold as a set or individually.
